Hypnobirthing is a childbirth method that focuses on teaching techniques for relaxation and self-hypnosis to reduce the fear and pain associated with childbirth. The goal is to create a more comfortable and calm birthing experience.
I provide complimentary online taster sessions via Teams and some are even in-person.
Hypnobirthing works by teaching women to enter a state of deep relaxation during childbirth, which helps to release tension and fear. This allows the body to work more efficiently, leading to a shorter and easier labour.
The benefits of Hypnobirthing include reduced fear and anxiety surrounding childbirth, shorter and easier labours, reduced need for pain medication, increased feelings of empowerment, and a more positive birth experience.
Yes, Hypnobirthing is safe. It is a non-invasive and drug-free method of childbirth that focuses on relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques.
It is recommended to start Hypnobirthing classes around 20-30 weeks of pregnancy. This allows for enough time to learn the techniques and practice them before childbirth. However, if you would like to start earlier I offer a refresher course to take closer to your due date.
No, you do not need a partner to attend Hypnobirthing classes with you. However, having a partner present can be helpful for practicing techniques and providing support during childbirth. Your 'partner' can be anyone, e.g. your birth partner - mum, sister, friend, etc.
My classes range from £50 - £275-. To find out more about prices go to the 'Prices' tab at the top of my website.
While Hypnobirthing techniques can help reduce pain and fear during childbirth, it does not guarantee a pain-free birth. Every woman's experience is unique, and there are many factors that can impact the birthing process.
The main focus of my Hypnobirthing classes is to make women and families feel educated and empowered about birth and to feel confident and calm about labour and their transition into motherhood/parenthood.
Classes focus on the role of the birth partner, how to prepare for labour, relaxation and breathing techniques, and the mechanism of labour, birth and the postnatal period.
My course is 3 classes over 3 weeks, Each class is 3.5 hours long.
- 3 x 3.5-hour classes
- The Little Calm Births Book: information booklet containing everything covered in class.
- Affirmation cards
- Following completion of the course I provide the families I support with a care package, this includes essential information from my classes, tips for birth partners and a few luxury items from local businesses.
- Calm Births relaxation MP3s to access outside of class for practice and relaxation outside of class.
- WhatsApp group for each cohort to form a support network and make friends.
- Follow-up email/call following completion of the course.
[This is the same for one-to-one classes. However, a WhatsApp group is not set up.]
